2010 Gymnastics Season in Review

GYMNASTICS (JOHN SPINI/30th SEASON): Junior Mary Atkinson became John Spini's 27th All-American after placing ninth on vault at the NCAA Championships... Spini has now coached 27 athletes for 81 All-America honors... ASU has been represented at 25 of the 29 NCAA Championships... Atkinson qualified for the NCAA Champions as an individual after placing fifth in the all-around at the NCAA West Regional... The Sun Devils have now been represented Sun Devils earned a spot to their 29th consecutive NCAA Regional... the team placed fifth at the NCAA West Regional... Atkinson was named to the Second-Team All-Pac-10 Team in the all-around... Atkinson posted nine scores of 9.9 or higher including five on vault, two on bars and two on floor... Four other Sun Devils reached scores of 9.9 this season... Madison Snowden posted two 9.9 on floor, Nickie Johnson had one score of 9.9 on floor and Kahoku Palafox and Kaitlynn Bormann each had one on bars... The team's top returnee from 2009, Beaté Jones was out for the season with a Lis Franc injury.... The Sun Devils went 2-11 overall with a 2-4 Pac-10 record... The team ended the season ranked 32nd... coach Spini now owns a 329-164-2 overall record.
