California Alum Sofie Andersson Qualifies for 2010 U.S. Women's Open

Former California Golden Bear women's golf team member Sofie Andersson qualified for the 2010 U.S. Open after finishing in a tie for third place at the US Women's Open Sectional, held at the Corral de Teirra Country Club in Salinas.
The top four players from the sectional earned spots in the field of the 2010 U.S. Women's Open which will take place July 5-11 at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Penn.
Andersson whot a pair of 75's in the 36-hole qualifier, finishing in a tie for third place at six-over par, earning her a spot in the field.
Two current Cal golfers, Emily Childs and Joanne Lee, also finished in the top-10. Childs finished in a tie for fifth, shooting a 76 and 75 (+7). She is the second alternate. Lee, who has played in three previous U.S. Women's Opens, finished in ninth at nine-over (77-76). Fellow Bear Jackie Williams finished 37th at +20
Andersson went pro after graduating from Cal, playing primarily on the Duramed Futures Tour. Last season, Cal alum Sophia Sheridan played in the 2009 U.S. Women's Open at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Penn.
