PHOENIX – Arizona swimming signees Mitchell Friedemann and Margo Geer were selected as the top performers at the YMCA Nationals last month and are featured prominently in the June issue of SwimmingWorldMagazine. Friedemann, a freshman-to-be at UA, also bagged the highly-coveted cover honors.
Friedemann, from Schroeder, Wis., posted several top times at the YMCA Short Course Nationals in Ft. Lauderdale including winning the 100 fly in 48.66 and 100 free in 44.24. He also set a new YMCA record in the 50 free with a 20.33.
Geer, arguably the nation’s top female recruit who, along with Friedemann, is also heading to Arizona in the fall, set four YMCA national records last month in Ft. Lauderdale, winning the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free and 100 back all in record time. Geer out of Milford Center, Ohio is a five-star recruit and will look to contribute for UA immediately as a freshman in 2010-11.
