Cal Baseball Loses 12-3 to North Carolina in NCAA Regional in Norman, Oklahoma

NORMAN, OKLA. -

The California baseball team struggled early in the 2010 NCAA Regional in Norman, Okla., giving up six runs to North Carolina (37-20) in the top of the first inning and ended up falling, 12-3, to the Tar Heels Friday night (June 4) at L. Dale Mitchell Park. The Golden Bears (29-24) did get a pair of hits each from freshman right fielder Tony Renda, junior second baseman Brian Guinn and junior first baseman Mark Canha. Canha also knocked his 10th home run of the season and finished with two RBI, giving him a Pac-10 leading 69 RBI for the season.

Cal will next play Oral Roberts (35-26) at 1 p.m. CT, Saturday, June 5 at L. Dale Mitchell Park. The Golden Eagles had lost 7-6 in 10 innings to host Oklahoma in Friday's 1 p.m. game.
