Four Cardinal Women's Rowers Named To CRCA/Pocock All-America Teams
June 8, 2010
STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford women's rowing had four rowers honored with selection to the CRCA's 2010 Pocock All-America Teams. Elle Logan and Lindsay Meyer were named first-team All-Americans, while Grace Luczak and Erika Roddy were tabbed for the second team.
The announcement marks Logan's third straight selection to the All-America First Team, while Roddy and Luczak each earned their second selections, as Roddy was picked to the first team and Luczak to the second team in 2009. Meyer becomes a first-time All-American with the unveiling of the teams.
The quartet was all part of a Stanford I Eight boat that finished fifth at the 2010 NCAA Championships two weeks ago, and helped the Cardinal team to a fourth-place national finish.
Logan earned her third straight first-team All-America honor in her third year on the I Eight boat. In her time with the boat, she has claimed NCAA gold and Pac-10 gold (in 2009) and rowed in two NCAA Championships Grand Finals. In May she was also named to both the CRCA All-West Region First Team and the All-Pac-10 Team.
Meyer, who was named to the All-America Team for the first time, completed her second year on the I Eight in 2010. The 2008 U.S. Olympian was a key figure in Stanford's silver-medal run at the Pac-10 Championships and fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championships, while also earning CRCA All-West Region First Team and All-Pac-10 Team nods.
Luczak, who earned her second straight nod to the All-America Second Team, earned her second consecutive Pac-10 medal with a silver in 2009 and helped the I Eight to the boat's third straight NCAA Grand Final appearance. She was Stanford's third member of the All-Pac-10 Team and was also honored as a CRCA All-West Region First Team pick.
Last year's Pac-10 Women's Rowing Athlete of the Year and a first-team All-American, Roddy was named to the CRCA All-America Second Team in 2010 after once again sitting in the stroke seat on the I Eight. At the stroke, Roddy helped lead the Cardinal to another appearance in the NCAA Grand Final and to the Pac-10 silver medal while also earning a spot on the CRCA All-West Region Second Team.
