June 8, 2010
STANFORD, Calif. - Three former Stanford women's volleyball players will compete on the U.S. National team June 8-13 at the 26th annual Montreux Volley Masters Tournament in Montreux, Switzerland. Cynthia Barboza, Ogonna Nnamani and Kristin Richards were selected to the 14-player U.S. roster last week.
The eight-team tournament marks the official opening of the U.S. Women's National Team's 2010 schedule. The United States will open the tournament against Japan on June 8. They will then face Germany on June 9 and Russia on June 11. The tournament will conclude with the pool crossover matches on June 12 and the medal rounds on June 13.
This is the first appearance at the Montreux Tournament for the United States since a seventh-place finish in 2005. Richards is the only player on the U.S. roster with experience at the Montreux event (in 2005).
Up next for the U.S. is the Ninth Women's Pan American Cup held June 18-26 in Mexico. Nine of the 14 members of the U.S. National Team hail from the Pac-10 Conference.
