June 23, 2010

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Stanford sophomore-to-be Kristina Wong fired rounds of 71 and 72 to finis sixth in the stroke play portion of the United State's Women's Amateur Public Links Championships being held at the Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind.

Wong's 36-hole total of 136 left her eight strokes behind medalist Ariya Jutanugarn of Thailand. The 14-year old Jutanugarn added a 4-under-par 67 on Tuesday after an opening round 68 for a 7-under 135, two strokes clear of Argentina's Martina Gavier.

The low 64 scorers advanced to match play, which begins on Wednesday. The cut for match play came at 10-over 152, with an 8-for-3 playoff held late Tuesday afternoon to determine the final spots.

Wong will face Brianna Do of Vietnam tomorrow in the first round of match play.
