Erica McLain Claims the U.S. Triple Jump Title

Des Moines, Iowa - The USA Track and Field Championships are underway and Stanford has already made its presence known. Former Stanford NCAA Champion, Erica McLain captured the national title in the triple jump, while current Cardinal Karynn Dunn won the U.S. Junior title in the long jump.
McLain who currently serves as a volunteer assistant coach for Stanford broke the Drake Stadium record with a mark of 46-6 ¼. The 2008 Beijing Olympian earned her first national title with the effort. McLain won three NCAA title while at Stanford and has now ascended to the top triple jumper in the nation either collegiate or pro.
In addition to McLain, Karynn Dunn captured the U.S. Junior title in the long jump. Dunn just finished her freshman year with the Cardinal and has a bright collegiate future ahead of her. Her leap of 21-4 ½ topped her collegiate best to win the junior title.
Among the other former Stanford competitor at the national meet was Lindsay Allen in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Allen finished fourth in qualifying and advanced to the final with a time of 10:03.81.
