April 19, 2010
STANFORD, Calif. -- The Stanford women's volleyball team's spring scrimmage versus rival California, scheduled for Wednesday, Apr. 21, has been moved to the Maples Pavilion practice gym.
Fans can use the entrance from the Maples Pavilion parking lot on the south side of the practice facility or enter using the door adjacent to the loading dock on the north east side of the building.
The Cardinal's first spring match took place on Apr. 15 at Saint Mary's. After hosting the Golden Bears, Stanford will then play at the San Francisco tournament on May 1, beginning at 9 a.m. The Cardinal will also host San Jose State for a scrimmage on May 5 at 4:30 p.m. in the practice gym in Maples Pavilion.
Finally, Stanford will wrap up the spring schedule as it welcomes back its alumni for a scrimmage on May 8, held in the practice gym, from 9:30-11 a.m.
Stanford, which won its fourth consecutive Pac-10 Championship and advanced to the Stanford Regional in 2009, returns 11 veterans to its 2010 roster. The returners are headlined by three-time All-American outside hitter Alix Klineman, who has led the team in kills the past three seasons and has twice been named to the Final Four All-Tournament Team.
The Cardinal also returns seniors Gabi Ailes and Cassidy Lichtman. Ailes, the team's starting libero for the past three years, has already captured Stanford's career digs record with 1,641 in three season. Lichtman earned first team AVCA All-America honors in 2009 and led the team with 22 double-doubles, including 10 triple-doubles.
