BRISTOL, Conn. - In a dizzying span of eight hours Monday, Washington quarterback Jake Locker was whisked from one corner of the ESPN headquarters to another to appear on a wide variety of shows.

The morning started with a 5 a.m. wake up call in lower Manhattan, made harder by the three-hour time change going to the East Coast. A group of Locker, athletic director Scott Woodward and assistant athletic director O.D. Vincent, along with staffers from the communications department, made the two-hour drive to Bristol and the massive ESPN campus.

The ESPN 'Car Wash' is insider term the company uses when it treats athletes from all sports to the full range of ESPN programming. Locker's day started with a couple of interviews with ESPN Rise and, which preceded a segment on ESPN 'First Take,' where the QB fielded questions about the upcoming season and other topics. From there, Locker made a radio appearance on the Scott Van Pelt show before heading back to the television studios for a spot on ESPNews.

Throughout the trip, Locker frequently bumped into New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton, who was also visiting ESPN this week.

Lunch was held at the posh ESPN cafeteria, where Locker was able to chat with College Football GameDay host Rece Davis. Then it was back to the campus tour, where Locker was brought into an interview with ESPNU. From there, it was on to the fourth floor and a live chat on, where Husky fans from all across the country chimed in with questions.

The day continued with a familiar face when Locker was featured on a College Football Live taping with ex-Husky QB Brock Huard. Locker was quizzed about a particular play, and then asked to compare current video to that from his freshman season. By far the most interesting show was the interactive format offered on ESPN's 'SportsNation,' hosted by personality Colin Cowherd, a native of Grayland, Wash., and an admitted Husky fan. The afternoon ended with some taped segments for the marquee show, SportsCenter.

Before heading back to New York, Locker and Co., had dinner at Frank Pepe's pizzeria in New Haven, Conn., before taking a whirlwind tour of the Yale University campus. Once back in New York, the traveling party made several side detours throughout Manhattan, visiting Central Park, Times Square and driving down the scenic West Side Highway.

Up next for Locker is a meeting Tuesday with members of the media from East Coast outlets such as Sports Illustrated and other New York-based newspapers.
