No. 21/25 Cal Beats Santa Clara, 2-1
SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Hector Jimenez scored a goal and set up Anthony Avalos' eventual gamewinner to lead No. 21/25 California to a 2-1 victory over Santa Clara on Thursday night in the Bay Area Classic at Buck Shaw Stadium. Cal improved its record to 3-1-1 after the nonconference match. The host Broncos fell to 2-3-0.

Stanford Knocks Off USF On Late Yahyavi Goal
San Francisco, Calif. - Stanford played its fifth consecutive one-goal game, but this time the result was different. Dominique Yahyavi scored in the 86th minute of a scoreless game to earn its first win of the season. The Cardinal improved to 1-4 after the tough, hard-fought effort that gives the team something to build on.

Women's Volleyball:

No. 9 Huskies Block Pittsburgh's Path In Sweep
PITTSBURGH, Penn. - Behind a great wall of blockers, the ninth-ranked Husky volleyball team swept the Pittsburgh Panthers tonight at the Fitzgerald Field House in the first match of the Pittsburgh Blue & Gold Invitational. Washington (9-0) dominated the net with 15 stuffs, the most blocks for UW in a three-set match since 2007. Set scores tonight were 25-19, 25-11, 25-12 as UW pushed its consecutive set win streak to 27.
