TUCSON, Ariz. - The No. 1 Stanford women's volleyball team swept Arizona, 25-14, 25-19, 25-23, Sunday at the McKale Center in Tucson, Ariz. The Cardinal pushes its record to 11-0 on the season and 2-0 in Pac-10 play, while the Wildcats drop to 10-4 on the year and 0-2 in the conference.
No. 8 Bears Win 12th Straight in Sweep
TEMPE, Ariz. - The No. 8-ranked California volleyball team (12-0, 2-0 Pac-10) swept Arizona State (5-9, 0-2 Pac-10) in three sets (25-23, 25-21, 26-24) at the Wells Fargo Arena on Sunday, Sept. 26. The Golden Bears remain undefeated and are off to their best start since a 16-0 streak opened up the 2006 season. Cal was led by junior outside hitter Tarah Murrey, who had 20 kills (3e, 36att, .472), and senior setter Carli Lloyd, whose 45 assists allowed the Bears to attack at a .304 rate (52k, 17e, 115att).
Garcia Tallies Two In 5-1 USC Win
CHENEY, WASH. - The USC women's soccer team topped off a winning road trip with its sixth straight victory in the Trojans' powerful 5-1 win over host Eastern Washington today in Cheney, Wash. Breaking through with the first two-goal game of her USC career was sophomore Courtney Garcia, who scored to answer the Eagles' surprise early strike and then knocked in USC's fifth goal of the day to wrap up the road win. USC improves to 7-1-2 after a victorious Washington visit this weekend, while Eastern Washington goes to 0-8-1.
