Scouting The Ducks: LaMichael James
RB LaMichael James
40 YD: 4.35
Strengths: Quick and fast, multiple miss runner is very creative in space. Can go the distance on any carry. Tremendous speed and acceleration. Strong for his size. Very consistent from game to game. Naturally instinctive with the ball in his hands.
Weaknesses: Small frame, lacks power between the tackles.
Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in 2009 after rushing for 1,546 yards. One of the most explosive runners in college football today. Was a big time recruiting coup for Oregon as one of the top RB's in the state of Texas in 2007. What he lacks in size he makes up for with speed and explosion. Can make multiple defenders miss in space and can hit the home run on any given carry. Outstanding peripheral vision allows him to jump-cut quickly through traffic.
The zone option offense run by Oregon suits his style to a tee, as it creates running lanes and big play opportunities for the talented sophomore. James has a versatile style and can make big plays as both a runner and receiver out of the backfield. This kid wants the ball in his hands with the game on the line and is one of the toughest RB's pound-for-pound in the college ranks today.
