WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - CALIFORNIA's Tarah Murrey was named Pac-10 Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 27-Oct. 3, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. The junior outside hitter helped lead the Golden Bears to two convincing wins over OREGON and OREGON STATE as No. 7 Cal stretched its winning streak to 14 matches and remained undefeated.
The El Cerrito, Calif., native averaged 6.25 points per set and put up 1.33 blocks per set to go with a team-high 5.17 kills per set through the two matches. In the sweep of the previously undefeated and then-No. 11 Ducks, Murrey logged 16 kills and a .351 attack rate. She also added a season-high five blocks. In the 3-0 win over the Beavers, Murrey had 15 kills for a .314 hitting percentage and added three blocks.
