WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - CALIFORNIA senior defender A.J. Soares was named Pac-10 Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 5-11, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.
The Solana Beach, Calif., native scored seven points for the No. 10 Golden Bears and led a stingy defense that allowed just one goal as Cal routed Oregon State, 5-0, and Washington, 4-1, on the road. The Bears extended their unbeaten streak to seven games. Soares, who was also named the College Soccer News National Player of the Week for his performance, scored two goals against the Beavers and then collected one goal and one assist against the Huskies.
