Pac-10 Game of the Week: Arizona at Stanford
Arizona (7-1) at Stanford (7-1)
November 6, 2010
5:00 p.m. PT
Stanford players to watch:
RB #33 Stepfan Taylor, So. - The quick and shifty Taylor has been productive in every game while leading the Cardinal with 7 rushing TDs.
TE #82 Coby Fleener, Sr. - Needs to step up big vs. the stingy Wildcat defense. The sure-handed senior has 4 TD catches on the year.
FB/LB #48 Owen Marecic, Sr. - Coming on strong from his LB post with 31 tackles and 2 INTs on the year.
DL #92 Sione Fua, Sr. - With 17 tackles on the year, stats don't do justice for this disruptive inside players.
Arizona players to watch:
CB #1 Robert Golden, Jr. - The former safety is a vicious hitter who also plays the ball well with 5 pass break ups to date.
CB #24 Trevin Wade, Jr. - Very athletic player is arguably the best pure cover man in the Pac-10 Conference.
SS #3 Anthony Wilcox, Sr. - Plays the game with range and awareness. His 7 pass break-ups lead the defense.
FS #9 Joe Perkins, Sr. - This kid had become an intimidator with several big hits on the season. Leads the secondary with 35 tackles.
This game will be all about the explosive Stanford offense, led by All American QB Andrew Luck vs. the number one defense in the Pac-10 Conference. The Arizona offense is no slouch either, having put up 583 total yards on offense last week against UCLA, and that was without starting QB Nick Foles, who is expected to be healthy and ready to play this week. The key to this game will be the play of the Cardinal offensive line, which will face a multitude of blitzes by the defensive-minded Arizona coach Mike Stoops. Arizona has one of the better secondaries in the country and should be on coverage most of the night, forcing Andrew Luck to pull it down and run more than he would like. This game will come down to the very end with a late turnover possibly being the deciding factor.
