Spotlight: Washington State's Keri Killebrew
WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY: Followed Weber State coach Cindy Fredrick to WSU and sat out the 1989 season before becoming the team setter from 1990-92. She helped lead the Cougars to their first NCAA Championship bid in 1991…Killebrew was selected as the Cougars' first All-American volleyball player as a senior in 1992 after leading the Cougars to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC).
CAREER: Became the 21st player in collegiate volleyball to reach the 5,000 career assists mark…her total of 5,848 assists placed her eighth on the all-time NCAA Division 1 career assists standing…her WSU total was 4,553 assists, a school record.
RS-SENIOR (1992-93): Culminated career as WSU's first-ever All-American, selected to the AVCA NCAA Div. I second team…led WSU to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC)… there, they won an unprecedented 18-game sweep and she was named the tournament MVP…named to the All-Pac-10 team…Pac-10 player of the week in late October after leading WSU to a win over #7 USC, the Cougars' first-ever win over a Top team…finished the year with 1,726 assists, second best total ever in Pac-10 history and a WSU record…set school marks for digs in a match, 28, and assists with 85.
RS-JUNIOR (1991-92): Led WSU to its first NCAA tournament appearance…team captain…her 13.02 apg led the Pac-10, ranked seventh nationally and fifth on the conference single-season list…hit .292 hitting percentage ranked third on WSU's single season list and eighth on the conference list…39 service aces ranked ninth in the Pac-10 and ninth on WSU's single season list…received first-team All-West Region honors and Pac-10 first team recognition…team MVP…Co-MVP of the WSU Cougar Invitational and also named to the Lady Ute Classic all-tournament.
RS-SOPHOMORE (1990-91): Ranked seventh in the Pac-10 in assists, 10.87 apg, with 1,239 in 114 games…led the Cougars in hitting and was ninth in the Pac-10 at .275…also led the squad in service aces, 34, and second in digs with 251…in a win over Washington, had 65 assists, a team-high 24 digs, and hit .333 with five kills…played in all 31 WSU matches and 114 games.
