Team leader. Highly competitive. Makes big plays in every game. Natural football instincts. Very good ability to read plays quickly and find the ball, especially vs. the inside run. Doesn't stay blocked and shows ability to play strong at the point of attack. Plays with effort from side to side. Shows some pass rush skill when blitzing.
Lacks top foot speed. Not natural in coverage. Will miss some tackles he should make. A little stiff in overall movement. Has had some injuries but battles through.
This All-Pac-10 linebacker is the leader of the Cal defense. Plays best in big games, like his 16 tackle total earlier this season vs. USC. Plays the game like it is meant to be played and has the fiery disposition all the good linebackers possess. Naturally instinctive player who brings a lot of energy to the field. Has had a highly productive career for the Bears and should become a solid NFL linebacker in time.
