Cal's Lloyd Named AVCA National Player of the Year
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (December 17, 2010) - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is proud to announce that University of California senior setter Carli Lloyd has been selected as the 2010 AVCA Division I National Player of the Year. The award was presented tonight at the AVCA All-America/Players of the Year Banquet presented by Zamst, which was held in Kansas City, Mo., as part of the 2010 AVCA Annual Convention.
Lloyd has been instrumental to California's success for the past four seasons. She guided the Golden Bears to four appearances in NCAA Regional final matches, and was named to all-regional tournament teams three times, including earning Most Outstanding Player honors at the 2010 Seattle Regional. She has directed Cal to its first-ever NCAA championship match this season, as the Golden Bears have rolled to a 30-3 overall record to date. The 30 wins in a season is a program record, and the squad has not lost a set in five postseason matches this season.
