Corral Named Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- USC junior guard Ashley Corral was named Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 13-19, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.
Ashley Corral (Vancouver, Wash.) led the Trojans to a pair of wins and the Women of Troy Basketball Classic title at Galen Center. Voted to the all-tournament team, Corral averaged 18.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists over the two games.
Corral had game-high scoring outings in back-to-back games, netting 14 points against future conference-mate Colorado in the first game of the tournament. She also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. In the championship game vs. San Diego State, she scored USC's first 10 points and finished with 23 to go with six assists and five rebounds, despite going down with an injury but returned later in the game.
The Trojans are undefeated at home this going, winning its first five home contests of the season.
It is the second-career Pac-10 Player of the Week honor for Corral and the first this season. It is the 41st all-time Player of the Week selection for USC and third this season.
The Trojans are off for 10 days before going on a three-game road trip, beginning with a final non-conference tilt at Fresno State on Wednesday, Dec. 29. USC will open the Pac-10 slate on Friday, Dec. 31 at Washington State.
