Scouting The Huskies: Foster, Kearse

SCOUTING REPORT
Mason Foster
Sr. LB - Washington
Ht. 6'2" Wt. 240
40-YD 4.70

Strengths
Very versatile performer. Outstanding production. Smart and instinctive. Plays with speed from side to side. Has very good cover skills and athletic ability for the position. Can come off the edge and rush the passer effectively. Consistent player from game to game. Very good leader.

Weaknesses
Lacks ideal bulk strength taking on big linemen. Not the most explosive mover in pursuit. Needs to improve his ability to shed blockers inside. Will miss some tackles he should make.

Summary
This is a highly versatile and productive linebacker as he led the Pac-10 this season with 151 stops. He has a solid all-around game as he shows good m/m cover skill vs RB's and TE's. He is the leader of the defense and makes a lot of the in-game adjustments. Smart and aware player who is not easy to fool. Reads play fast, which is why his tackle total is sky high. This kid plays every game the same, with consistency and effort while making a ton of plays in every phase. His game is suited well for the next level as his versatility is his biggest strength.

SCOUTING REPORT
Jermaine Kearse
Jr. WR - Washington
Ht. 6'2" Wt. 205
40-YD 4.50

Strengths
Very good size, snatch hands. Extremely tough and competitive. Has ability to run after the catch. He is a very crisp route runner who understands coverages and works to get open. Good double-move route runner. He is a clutch go-to receiver on 3rd down. Makes a lot of big plays. Confident and consistent.

Weaknesses
Lacks big time speed as a deep route runner.

Summary
This player reminds me of the Steelers Hines Ward. Extremely competitive receiver who wants the ball thrown his way in clutch situations. Tough and physical with outstanding hands. Likes to catch balls in traffic. Very good running skills. Can turn short catch into long gain. This guy makes big plays in every game and doesn't drop balls. Only a junior, Jermaine has a lot of ability and a definite NFL career in his future.
