Oregon's Jackson Named Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Leading OREGON to its first Pac-10 wins of the season in its final games at historic Mac Court, junior guard Nia Jackson was named Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 3-Jan. 9, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.

Nia Jackson (Seattle, Wash.) averaged 22.0 points. 6.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 5.0 steals per game, leading the Ducks in scoring in the sweep of the Washington schools as Oregon bid farewell to Mac Court.

In the 77-72 win over Washington State, Jackson scored Oregon's last 10 points, making four free throws in the final eight seconds to secure the Ducks' victory. Seventeen of her game-high 22 points came in the second half as Jackson helped UO erase a 12-point second-half deficit. Jackson also added a career-high tying eight rebounds, dished out four assists and a game-high five steals against the Cougars.

Scoring a game-high 22 points in the 68-64 win over Washington, Jackson also added game highs of seven assists and five steals. Jackson has scored in double figures in 16-consecutive contests dating back to last season, and has led the Ducks in scoring in three-straight games.

It is Jackson's first-career Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and the 37th all-time selection for Oregon.

Oregon travels to USC on Thursday, Jan. 13, then visits 10th-ranked UCLA on Saturday, Jan. 15.
