Thomas Named Pac-10 Men's Basketball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - WASHINGTON's Isaiah Thomas was named Pac-10 Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 3-9, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. The junior guard led the Huskies past Oregon and Oregon State in Seattle over the weekend.

The Tacoma, Wash., native averaged 19.5 points, 8.5 assists and shot 46.2% from the three-point range as Washington improved to 4-0 in the Pac-10, the program's best start in league play since 1984. Overall, the Huskies have won 11-straight over conference opponents, its longest streak since the Pac-10 formed in 1978. In the 87-69 win over the Ducks on Thursday, Thomas scored 20 points and equaled a career-high with nine assists. He also grabbed six rebounds, including three offensive, had three steals and threw down his first collegiate dunk. In the 103-72 win over the Beavers on Saturday, Thomas matched his career high with four three-pointers en route to 19 points. He also dished out eight assists.

It is Thomas' first career Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and the 40th weekly recognition for Washington all-time.

The Huskies hit the road to face STANFORD on Thursday at 7 p.m. and CALIFORNIA on Sunday at 7 p.m.
