Top-10 Duals Highlight Pac-10 Gymnastics This Week
After the third week of competition, the Pac-10 dominates the national rankings with four teams placed in the top-25 and three in the top-10 (No. 2 STANFORD, No. 7 OREGON STATE and No. 9 UCLA). Several Conference teams now fall into the top 10 for event rankings: No. 9 Stanford on vault; No. 2 Oregon State, No. 3 Stanford, and No. 4 WASHINGTON on bars; No. 1 Stanford on beam; No. 2 Stanford on floor. The Cardinal and Bruins boast all-arounders in the individual top 10. Stanford is represented by seniors Shelley Alexander and Allyse Ishino, who rank sixth and eighth, respectively. Freshman Olivia Courtney represents UCLA as she is ranked sixth.
In this week's action, the Beavers host the sixth-annual Pink Out when they compete against UCLA on Friday. While the Bruins aim for their first win of the season in a dual meet, Oregon State looks to take down another top-25 opponent. Meanwhile, WASHINGTON hosts No. 3 Oklahoma for a battle of top-25 teams. The GymDawgs look to build on their season-high score of 195.475 from last week. CALIFORNIA welcomes the University of Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves to Haas Pavilion on Sunday, Jan. 30 at 2 pm. Sophomore Madisyn O'Brien looks to lead Cal to its first win in a dual meet this year. ARIZONA STATE hosts its first home meet of the year, as the Sun Devils take on Brown University. Stanford travels to Salt Lake City, Utah for a dual meet against No. 4 Utah.
