No. 10/11 Huskies Survive Late UNLV Rally
LAS VEGAS - A nine-run seventh inning for the No. 10/11 Huskies (4-0) helped hold the lead after a late UNLV (2-1) rally in the bottom of the inning to secure the fourth-straight victory for UW with a 17-13 win at Eller Media Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Softball Stays Perfect with Wins over North Texas and Bradley
TEMPE, Ariz. - The Oregon State softball team remains perfect on the 2011 season with a 3-2 victory over North Texas and an 8-6 victory over Bradley University Saturday.
Texas Tech Edges Late-Scoring Cal, 5-4
TEMPE, Ariz. - Despite scoring an incredible four runs in the top of the sixth to claw back within one, Texas Tech's five runs in the fifth were too much to handle, and the California softball team fell, 5-4, to the Red Raiders on Saturday evening. After dropping multiple runs in the first inning in their first two games, the Golden Bears (2-1 overall) were silenced by the Red Raiders (3-0) until the sixth.
Softball Goes 1-1 on Day Two of Kajikawa Classic
TEMPE, Ariz. -The No. 18 Stanford softball team went 1-1 on the second day of the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz. The Cardinal dropped a 3-2 nine-inning game to Nebraska in the team's first game of the day, but bounced back with a 12-4 win over Portland State. Stanford is now 3-1 on the season.
Escobedo and Bach Stellar In Day Three of Kajikawa Classic
TEMPE, Ariz. - Lights out pitching performances by Dallas Escobedo and Hillary Bach coupled with a grand slam from Annie Lockwood led the highlights on the day Saturday as the No. 13 ASU Softball team split Day Three of the Kajikawa Classic with a 4-3 win over No. 9 Oklahoma and a 3-1 loss (8) to Utah. The Sun Devils are now 4-1 on the season with Escobedo holding a 4-0 record and Mackenzie Popescue taking the first loss for ASU in her first collegiate decision.
Saturday Action Brings Two More Mercy-Rule Wins for #1 UCLA
LOS ANGELES - Five different Bruins had multiple RBI in Saturday's first game against North Dakota State, including a career-high four from sophomore B.B. Bates in a 15-2 win, while Bates drove in three more in the nightcap, as did freshman Kellie Fox, in a 10-2 victory over UCF on the second day of the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament at Easton Stadium.
Chambers' Blasts Help No. 14 Ducks Dust Wolfpack, 10-0
TEMPE, Ariz. - Junior infielder Kelsey Chambers connected on her first two homers of the season and helped the No. 14 Oregon softball team (5-0) blank Nevada (1-3) by a 10-0 count in the five-inning one-hitter that capped third-day action in the Kajikawa Classic.
