Pac-10 Reprimands California Men's Basketball Coach
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- University of California head men's basketball coach Mike Montgomery has been reprimanded by the Pac-10 Conference for comments he made about the officiating following California's games at Washington on Thursday, February 10, and at Washington State on Saturday, February 12, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. Montgomery's comments were aired on KNEW Radio 910 AM, California's flagship station, as part of its postgame interview with the coach.
"The Pac-10 has specific rules that prohibit our coaches from making public comments about officiating, and this prohibition specifically includes comments that create doubts about the credibility of the Conference's officiating program," stated Scott. "Our coaches are provided the opportunity to address their concerns with the Coordinator of Men's Basketball Officiating and to the Conference office, and we expect them to adhere to Conference protocol and policies."
