UCLA's Cantlay Named Pac-10 Men's Golfer of the Month
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Patrick Cantlay of UCLA has been named the Pac-10 Men's Golfer of the Month for February 2011.
Cantlay, a freshman from Los Alamitos, Calif., posted a 13-under par 203, which included a career collegiate best round 64 (-7) as he tied for top honors at the Amer Ani Invitational (Waikola Kings GC, Kohala Coast, Hawaii). He followed that up at the Battle of the Beach (Pelican Hill Golf Resort, Newport Beach, Calif.) with a second place finish as he recorded a 5-under (205) in leading the Bruins to the their second team title of the season. He was the only player in the field to post three scores in the 60's (68-69-68).
He currently leads the Bruins in scoring at 70.2 and is 17-under par through 15 rounds this year.
Also nominated for player of the month honors were Jonathan Khan, Arizona (posted two top-10 finishes and led Arizona to the team title at the Anteater Invitational where he finished fourth with a 2-under par 214) and Max Homa, California (posted lowest score of his career with a 10-under 206 to tie for individual medalist honors and led Cal to its third team victory of the season at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate).
