Pac-10 Teams Well Represented in First USTFCCCA Outdoor Rankings of 2011
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Six men's and six women's teams from the Pac-10 are ranked in the first U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings of the 2011 outdoor season, the organization announced Wednesday.
On the men's side, USC leads the Conference with a No. 6 ranking. The Trojans return seven athletes who have earned All-America status in their careers. STANFORD is ranked seventh, followed by No. 12 OREGON, No. 21 WASHINGTON, No. 24 UCLA and No. 25 CALIFORNIA.
The Oregon women, fresh off their second-straight NCAA Indoor Championship, begin the outdoor season ranked No. 2 behind two-time defending NCAA Outdoor National Champion Texas A&M. The Trojans are also in the top 10, coming in at No. 5. ARIZONA holds the No. 11 ranking, followed by No. 13 Stanford, No. 16 ARIZONA STATE and No. 22 WASHINGTON STATE.
The outdoor season is underway for Conference teams. The 2011 Pac-10 Conference Track and Field Championships will take place May 6-7 (multis) and May 13-14 at Drachman Stadium, in Tucson, Ariz.
