LOS ANGELES, CALIF - Powered by outstanding pitching from junior right-hander Erik Johnson and a clutch three-run pinch-hit double from freshman Andrew Knapp in the eighth inning, the No. 25-ranked Cal baseball shut out No. 17 UCLA, 4-0 Friday night (May 20) at Jackie Robinson Stadium. With the win, Cal improved to 30-16 overall and 13-9 in the Pac-10. UCLA fell to 29-20 and 14-8 in league play.
Brady Rodgers Tosses First Career Complete Game, #8 Arizona State Shuts Out Washington 6-0
SEATTLE, Wash. - On a picturesque night at Husky Ballpark in Seattle, Brady Rodgers pitched a masterpiece for the Sun Devils. The sophomore righty scattered five hits and struck out nine, throwing his first career complete game shutout in a 6-0 Arizona State victory. The win improves ASU to 37-13, 15-7 in Pac-10 play.
Cougar Offense Explodes Against Ducks
PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State collected a dozen hits, including seven doubles, and the Cougars overcame a five-run deficit to defeat Oregon 12-6 at Bailey-Brayton Field, Friday. With the victory, Washington State (23-25, 7-15 Pacific-10) pulled even with Oregon (28-25-1, 7-15 Pac-10) in the Pac-10 standings and kept their postseason hopes alive.
