LOS ANGELES - Junior right-hander Andrew Triggs (Nashville, Tenn.) struck out a career-high 13 batters Friday as the USC Trojans opened a Pac-10 Conference series with the 6-2 win over the Washington State Cougars. Triggs went 7 2/3 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on eight hits with two walks to surpass his previous career best of 10 strikeouts, set earlier this season.

TEMPE, Ariz. - The No. 23 UCLA baseball team earned a crucial 10-3 victory at No. 8 Arizona State in a Pac-10 game at Packard Stadium on Friday night. The Bruins (32-21, 17-8) moved into a tie for first place in the Pac-10 standings with Oregon State, which lost at Oregon, 4-1.



Appel and Company Shuts Down Cal 3-2

BERKELEY, Calif.-- Mark Appel (5-6) pitched into the eighth and Chris Reed shut the door on the final five outs as No. 24-ranked Stanford (31-20, 13-12 Pac-10) won the series opener with No. 23-ranked Cal (31-19, 13-12 Pac-10) 3-2 on Friday afternoon.



Anderson Leads Oregon To Series-Opening Victory

EUGENE, Ore. - Tyler Anderson's outing Friday night at PK Park couldn't have been any sweeter. In what is presumed to be his last appearance in an Oregon uniform at PK Park, Anderson pitched the Ducks (31-26-1) to a 4-1 victory over No. 6 Oregon State (38-15, 17-8) in the Civil War Series opener.
