National Champions! Huskies Dominate 109th IRA Championships To Capture Title
Cherry Hill, N.J. - Washington men's crew program won its fourteenth National Championship in school history on Saturday, throwing down a dominating effort on the 2,000-meter course on the Cooper River. The Huskies won both four events, the second varsity eight and most importantly, the varsity eight. The latter is the race used to determine the best and fastest crew in the nation, and in 2011 it was the Huskies. Equally as impressive: Washington won its fifth straight Ten Eyck Cup, the award given to the team champions who perform the best across all races.
No. 2 Cal Takes Third at IRAs
Cherry Hill, N.J. - Second-ranked California placed third at the IRA Championships Saturday morning after the Golden Bears' varsity 8+ boat finished third in the grand final. Top-ranked Washington won the varsity 8+ grand final and the national championship. Cal's freshman 8+ boat took first in its grand final.
Stanford Men's Four Takes Fifth, I Eight Eighth To Finish IRA Championships
CHERRY HILL, N.J. - Stanford men's rowing completed a weekend at the IRA Championships with a fifth-place national finish from the Four, while the I Eight took eighth overall and the Frosh Eight ninth.
