FULLERTON, Calif.-- Jordan Pries (6-5) and Chris Reed combined on a two-hitter and Stephen Piscotty hit a solo home run in the sixth to lead No. 21-ranked Stanford (34-20) to a 1-0 victory over No. 8-ranked CS Fullerton (41-16) on Saturday evening.
Carrillo, Champlin Lead Baseball To 16-1 Win Over Charlotte
TEMPE, Ariz. - Xorge Carrillo had a career-high five hits and Kramer Champlin threw seven shutout innings to lead the Arizona State University baseball team to a 16-1 victory over Charlotte in the Tempe Regional on Saturday. The Sun Devils are now 41-16 overall, 2-0 in the Regional, and will play the winner of Sunday afternoon's game between Arkansas and Charlotte on Sunday night.
Cal Baseball Upends Rice, 6-3, in NCAA Regional
Overcoming a two hour and 43 minute lightening delay, the California baseball team continued its 2011 season with a 6-3 victory over No. 9-ranked Rice Sunday (June 5) in NCAA regional action at Rice's Reckling Park. After scoring a run in the seventh inning on senior left fielder Austin Booker's RBI single that tied the game, 3-3, the Golden Bears had to wait over two hours before scoring three runs in the bottom of the eight on three Owl errors and an RBI single by sophomore second baseman Tony Renda.
