Trevor Bauer Named NCBWA District IX Player of the Year
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA junior right-handed pitcher Trevor Bauer has been named the District IX Player of the Year, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced Friday. Bauer has already been named National Player of the Year by Collegiate Baseball in addition to Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year.
Bauer, a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award, finished the season with a 13-2 record and a 1.25 ERA. He led the nation with 203 strikeouts, establishing a new Pac-10 single-season record. The previous record was held by former USC pitcher Mark Prior, who amassed 202 strikeouts in 2001. Bauer surrendered only 22 runs (19 earned) this season.
Bauer is UCLA's all-time record holder in career strikeouts (460), wins (34) and innings pitched (373.1).
