Cantlay Breaks Records At Travelers

UCLA freshman Patrick Cantlay continued to sizzle on the golf course one week after finishing as the low amateur at the U.S. Open.

Cantlay, 19, fired a course record 60 (-10) Friday and was the leader in the clubhouse at the suspended Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, CT. Cantlay's 13-under par score of 127 was four shots in front of Web Simpson. A few dozen players were still on the course or waiting to tee off for the second round late Friday.

Ideal scoring conditions -- soft greens, little wind and rules allowing players to lift, clean and place -- enabled Cantlay to record eight birdies and an eagle. He had just 24 putts.
