Arizona Hoops To Host ESPN's GameDay
WALNUT CREEK, Calif.— Defending Conference champion ARIZONA will host Conference Tournament champion WASHINGTON for College Basketball GameDay on Saturday, January 28 in a rematch of last year's thrilling Pac-10 Tournament Championship, which the Huskies won in overtime on a shot at the buzzer.
Arizona went 30-8 for the 2010-11 season and returns 11 letterwinners from the team that was one three-pointer away from the 2011 Final Four. Arizona went 17-0 at McKale Center last year, putting the current home win streak at 19 games. Seniors Kyle Fogg and Jesse Perry are among the top returners for the Wildcats.
Washington finished last season 24-11 and has seven players returning from the squad that played through the third round of the 2011 NCAA Tournament. Incoming freshman and prized guard Tony Wroten joins the Huskies to complement junior guard Abdul Gaddy in the backcourt, while 2011 Pac-12 All-Tournament team member Terrence Ross and 2011 Pac-10 All-Freshman Team member C.J. Wilcox return for their sophomore seasons.
The Tucson campus will be one of eight sites for ESPN's College Basketball GameDay during the 2011-12 season.
