Rowe Named to MAC Hermann Watch List
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA sophomore midfielder Kelyn Rowe has been named to the 2011 Men's Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy Watch List, announced Monday by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Rowe was one of 42 players and one of just six sophomores on the list.
The 2010 Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and an NSCAA Third Team All-American, Rowe led the Bruins with 10 assists last sea-son to rank second in the conference and set a UCLA freshman record. He also ranked second on the squad in points (24) and goals (7). A member of the U.S. Under-20 National Team, Rowe started for the U.S. at the 2011 CONCACAF Tournament and recorded three goals and one assist in two games.
Considered the most prestigious individual award in intercollegiate soccer, the recipient of the MAC Hermann Trophy is select-ed by Division I head coaches who are current members of the NSCAA. Three finalists from a semifinalist field of 15 will be an-nounced in late November. The winner will be announced at a news conference on Friday, January 6, 2011, in St. Louis.
The 2011 Pac-12 season opens August 26-28. UCLA travels to Louisville on August 27 in a rematch of last year's NCAA quar-terfinal game, which the Cardinals won, 5-4.
