Taylor Named National Player of the Week
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — STANFORD forward Lindsay Taylor has been named Disney Soccer/NSCAA National Player of the Week for Sept. 14, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced Wednesday.
Taylor led a late comeback against No. 8 Notre Dame by scoring the tying goal and assisting on the game-winner—all within the final 10 minutes of the match—to give Stanford the 2-1 victory in a rematch of last year's NCAA championship final. The Los Altos, Calif., native scored on a hard 25-yard shot that snuck just inside the right post. She then offered up a corner kick to Mariah Nogueira, who headed in the winning goal in the 88th minute.
Her clutch performance also earned her Bank of the West Pac-12 Women's Soccer Player of the Week honors for Sept. 5-12.
Taylor has scored a team-high six goals on the season. Stanford has maintained a 6-0-1 record and is now the top-ranked team in the country.
Taylor will be recognized at halftime of the NSCAA College Game of the Week on the Fox Soccer Channel, which features No. 1 Stanford at Portland on Thursday at 7 p.m. PT.
