Final Week Of Non-Conference Play
PAC-12 MEN'S SOCCER NOTES
Pac-12 teams enter the final week of non-conference play. Oregon State, Stanford and Washington host their annual tournaments. The Huskies make their home debut under first-year head coach Jamie Clark. San Diego State and UCLA also stay at home, while California has one match in Stanford's tournament on tap.
UCLA JR F Chandler Hoffman earned Bank of the West Player of the Week honors after a hat trick in the Bruins' 3-2 come from behind win over then-No. 6/9 UC Santa Barbara. He also earned College Soccer News National Player of the Week and was named to Top Drawer Soccer's Team of the Week. Hoffman has scored in five-straight matches. He leads the Pac-12 in goals (7) and points (14).
In Oregon State's third-straight weekend on the road, SO MF Alex Eckerson scored his third goal in the last two games in the 1-0 win over Gonzaga. FR MF Will Seymore picked up the first assist of his career on Eckerson's game-winner. The victory broke a four-game winless streak to the Bulldogs.
At 3-0-2, Washington is undefeated and off to its best start since the 2006 team began the season 8-0-0. SR F Brent Richards continues to pace the Huskies' offense, scoring his fourth goal of the season and third game winner in a 1-0 overtime win over Tulsa. SO GK Spencer Richey notched his fourth shutout and ranks third in the NCAA with a 0.179 GAA.
San Diego State's winning streak is at four after two road victories. SR D Daniel Steres scored three goals and recorded an assist in the wins over Oral Roberts and Houston Baptist. The Aztecs have outscored their opponents 12-2 over their four-game winning streak.
Stanford SR MF Alexander Binnie and SR MF Garrett Gunther scored their first goals of the season in the Cardinal's 2-2 draw with San Francisco.
Cal FR MF Seth Casiple tallied an assist in the Golden Bears' 4-2 loss to Santa Clara, bringing his season total to four. Casiple and SDSU SO F Miles Byass are tied for the Pac-12 lead. Casiple ranks 13th in the NCAA with 0.67 assists per game.
Washington's Richards and UCLA SR MF/D Andy Rose are candidates for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, given to student-athletes who excel both on an off the field.
