QB Scouting Report: Brock Osweiler
QB, Arizona St
Has the big-time arm and can make every throw in the book. Throws a tight spiral and can zip the ball downfield between defenders. Can also deliver the ball with touch.
Throws a catchable ball and can lead receivers in stride. Very good placement on downfield throws. Knows how to put air under deep passes.
Poise in pocket
Stands tall in pocket and reacts well to pressure. Knows how to slide and throw with his eyes downfield. Has a knack for getting rid of the ball with defenders in his face.
Has good foot quickness and surprising movement for a tall QB. Like the way he moves away from pressure and throws on the run. Can pull it down and run at times for the first down.
Appears to be in control under center. Knows where to go with the ball at all times. His height give him a big advantage scanning the field. Can read defenses and take what defense gives him. Good overall decision maker.
A unique QB at 6-foot-8 inches tall. Was highly recruited as a basketball player and turned down a scholarship to Gonzaga. This guy can definitely play the QB position well and has a ton of upside to work with. Big-armed QB who can make all the throws. Can put both zip and touch on the ball when need be. Very good accuracy. His movement skill in the pocket is impressive and his height is a big advantage seeing over defensive linemen. Consistently moves the team and makes good decisions under duress most of the time. Exciting QB prospect who will become known more on a national level as the season progresses.
