Noyola Named Finalist for Senior Award
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — STANFORD midfielder Teresa Noyola is one of 10 finalists for the 2011 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award for collegiate soccer, the award's staff announced Wednesday.
To be eligible for candidacy, the student-athlete must be a senior and display excellence in four areas: community, classroom, character and competition. The CLASS award, standing for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, encourages student-athletes to use their platform in sports to positively impact their communities.
The finalists were chosen by a media committee from the list of 30 candidates announced in August. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to determine the winner. Fans can vote through November 14 on either the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award web site or the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award Facebook fan page. Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I head coaches' votes to determine the winner.
Noyola's qualifications can be found here.
Lowe's will announce the women's soccer Senior CLASS Award winner during the 2011 NCAA Women's College Cup championships, December 2 and 4.
