Bank Of The West Weekly Football Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--Quarterback Andrew Luck of STANFORD and defensive end Derrick Shelby and place kicker Coleman Petersen of UTAH have been named Bank of the West Pac-12 Players of the Week in football.

Luck, a junior from Houston, Texas, threw for four touchdowns, all in the second half, in Stanford's 44-14 win over Washington State. The Cardinal led, 10-7, at halftime in a close game before Luck aired it out in the second half, completing 13-of-20 passes for 247 yards. He finished the day 23-of-36 for 336 yards. It marked the 11th time in his career that Luck threw for three or more touchdowns in a game. Stanford notched its school-record 14th consecutive victory and extended the nation's longest winning streak.

Shelby, a senior from Houston, Texas, had perhaps the best overall game of his career, leading Utah in tackles (7), sacks (1.5), tackles for loss (2.5) and pass breakups (2) in the 26-14 win at Pittsburgh. He made a critical interception with 1:36 remaining and Utah clinging to a 19-14 lead, returning it 21 yards for a touchdown. Shelby was named the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week for his performance.

Petersen, a junior from Sandy, Utah, made all four field goal attempts under windy conditions after going two games without an attempt. His career-long field goal of 45 yards gave Utah a 19-14 lead in the fourth quarter. Petersen also connected on kicks of 23, 34 and 39 yards. With his two PATs, Petersen scored 14 of Utah's 26 points. His four made field goals tied for second in school history.
