Byass Earns Bank of the West Honors
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - SAN DIEGO STATE sophomore forward Miles Byass was named Bank of the West Pac-12 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of October 18-24, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.
The Highland, Calif., native scored the game's first goal in the Aztecs' 2-1 win over NCAA semifinalist Michigan. Byass' goal in the ninth minute put San Diego State up 1-0. He had a game-high four shots over 70 minutes. The Wolverines were coming off a 1-0 upset of defending national champion and then-No. 4 Akron on Tuesday. Byass is tied for the team-lead with five goals this season. He leads the Aztecs with five assists and 15 points. Byass ranks in the top-five in all three categories among Pac-12 players. SDSU is 3-1 against 2010 NCAA Tournament teams this year.
This is Byass' second weekly honor and San Diego State's 15th all-time Player of the Week.
The Aztecs host Oregon State on Friday, October 28 at 3 p.m. PT and Washington on Sunday, October 30 at 1 p.m. PT.
