Bank Of The West Weekly Volleyball Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — The Pac-12 Conference office announced today the Bank of the West Pac-12 Volleyball Players of the Week. USC's Lauren Williams was voted the Offensive Player of the Week, UCLA's Kelly Reeves was the Defensive Player of the Week and Oregon's Liz Brenner was the Freshman of the Week. The weekly honors reflect per-formances for the week of Oct. 31-Nov. 6.

Weekly awards have been selected every week since the Conference began sponsoring women's volleyball in 1986. The offensive, defensive and freshman of the week honors are new for the 2011 campaign.

Senior Lauren Williams (Houston, Texas) hit .692 on 20 kills in 3-0 sweeps of Washington State and No. 10 Washing-ton over the weekend. Against the Cougars, she was a perfect 9-for-9 with no errors, adding three blocks in the match. Williams had 11 kills on 17 attempts with just two errors against the Huskies, keeping the Women of Troy in a tie for first place in the Pac-12 standings. She also had three blocks against Washington. Williams also contributed to the Tro-jans' defensive effort that limited WSU to a .057 hitting percentage and UW to .106.

Sophomore Kelly Reeves (San Diego, Calif.) averaged 4.50 digs, 2.00 kills and 1.00 blocks per set in the top-ranked Bruins' two victories over 10th-ranked Washington and Washington State. The wins keep UCLA in a tie for first place in the Pac-12 standings, as well. Reeves had 18 digs in the weekend opener against the Huskies. She added four kills, two blocks and an ace. She was just shy of a double-double against the Cougars, tallying nine digs and eight kills with four blocks. A Bruin has been named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for the second-consecutive week and the third time in four weeks. Bruins have earned the defensive honor four times this season, the most of any team.

Freshman Liz Brenner (Portland, Ore.) had the highest single-match kill total of any Pac-12 freshman over the week-end, notching a career-high 18 kills in the 3-1 win over Arizona State on Friday. The career-high mark in Tempe was her third season high over the last six matches. Brenner then had nine kills in the sweep of Arizona. For the weekend, she averaged 3.86 kills, 0.71 digs, 0.14 blocks and 3.93 points per set, while hitting 31 percent.

It is the first offensive player of the week honor for Williams and the second weekly citation of her career. It is the 48th all-time selection for USC. It is the second time this season Reeves has earned the defensive honor and the second weekly nod of her career, as well. The Bruins have also received 61 all-time weekly honors. Brenner's freshman of the week selection is the first of her career.

UCLA remains the No. 1 team in the country for the second-straight week, while USC stays at No. 4, according to the AVCA Coaches poll released today. The Bruins and Trojans travel to face No. 20 Oregon and Oregon State this week-end.
