Oregon's Johnson Named Player Of The Week
WALNUT CREEK, Calif.— OREGON's Amanda Johnson was named Bank of the West Pac-12 Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 14-20, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. Johnson averaged 30.5 points and 15.0 rebounds, leading the Ducks to a pair of victories.
Hailing from Santa Rosa, Calif., the senior forward had back-to-back 30-point outings, netting 31 points on 12-for-21 shooting in the 77-74 win over Illinois. She scored 20 points in the first half alone, and knocked down a career-high five threes. She also handed out three assists and had a couple of steals. Johnson was even more impressive in the 75-71 win over Portland State a couple of days later, recording a double-double by halftime (14 points, 10 rebounds). She led all scorers with 30 points and hauled down a career-high 19 boards. She also posted three blocks in the game.
Johnson was 25-for-46 from the floor, shooting 54.3 percent. She also shot 36.8 percent from long range (7-for-19). She was also perfect from the charity stripe, going 4-for-4.
It is Johnson's third-career player of the week honor and Oregon's 38th all-time.
Boasting a 3-0 record, the Ducks will host the Global Sports Classic this week, Nov. 24-27, welcoming Weber State, UC Irvine and Nicolls State to Eugene.
