OSU's Cunningham Named Player of the Week
WALNUT CREEK, Calif.— OREGON STATE guard Jared Cunningham has been named Bank of the West Pac-12 Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 14-20, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Monday.
The junior led the Beavers to their first 4-0 start in 11 years after posting three career highs and tying a school record last week.
Cunningham scored a career-high 35 points in the 82-72 win over Hofstra on Wednesday in the regional round of the TicketCity Legends Classic, only to set a new career high of 37 points on Sunday in the 100-95 overtime victory over Texas. He also grabbed a career-high nine rebounds against the Longhorns and made 20 free throws, tying the record for most in a game in Oregon State history.
Cunningham shot 59 percent from the field (24-of-41) in three games last week and 81 percent from the free throw line (38-of-47). The Oakland, Calif., native leads the Pac-12 in scoring, averaging 26.0 ppg.
This is Cunningham's first career Pac-12 Player of the Week honor and the 40th all-time selection for Oregon State.
The Beavers play No. 18 Vanderbilt on Monday at 6 p.m. PT in the championship game of the TicketCity Legends Classic at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, N.J.
