The women's soccer season came to a close Sunday when overall top seed STANFORD (25-0-1) defeated one-seed Duke (22-4-1) 1-0 to secure the program's first national championship in three consecutive tries.
Stanford seniors Teresa Noyola and Lindsay Taylor are both semifinalists for the 2011 Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy, the most prestigious individual award in intercollegiate soccer. UCLA senior Sydney Leroux joins them as one of 15 semifinalists. Three finalists for the award will be announced on Friday, Dec. 9. The finalists then will be invited to the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis for a news conference on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, where the winner will be announced.
