OSU's Bright Named Player of the Week
WALNUT CREEK, Calif.— OREGON STATE's Patricia Bright was named Bank of the West Pac-12 Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 5-11, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. Bright was one block shy of recording a triple-double in the Beavers' only game last week.
A junior forward/center from Phoenix, Ariz., Bright led OSU to a 63-52 road victory at Pepperdine. She nearly had a triple double, tallying 16 points, 10 rebounds and a school-record nine blocks. Her presence inside the paint limited the Waves to at 24.6 percent shooting for the game. Bright's first six points came from the free throw line, where she entered the game a sub-60 percent shooter but was a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. Bright was 5-for-8 (.625) from the floor, as well.
It is Bright's first-career and Oregon's State's 32nd all-time player of the week honor.
The Beavers, who went 9-21 all of last season, are 7-1 heading into their game at CS-Bakersfield on Tuesday, Dec. 13.
Also Nominated: Aley Rhode, ARIZ; Layshia Clarendon, CAL; Chucky Jeffery, COLO; Michelle Plouffe, UTAH; Regina Rogers, WASH; Rosie Tarnowski, WSU.
