Arizona's Hill Named Player of the Week
WALNUT CREEK, Calif.- ARIZONA forward Solomon Hill has been named Bank of the West Pac-12 Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 19-25, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Monday.
The Los Angeles, Calif., native led Arizona to a sweep of Oakland and Bryant last week in the program's two highest-scoring games of the season, bringing the 'Cats to a 9-4 record at the end of non-conference play. The junior scored a career-high 23 points (8-of-10 FG, 1-of-2 3-Pt. FG) against Oakland on Tuesday, accompanied by 11 rebounds, three assists and a block to defeat the Grizzlies 85-73.
On Thursday, Hill contributed 13 points, seven rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal in Arizona's 100-60 win over Bryant, marking the program's first 100-point game in McKale Center since March 7, 2009, when the 'Cats defeated Stanford 101-87.
In two comfortable victories last week, Hill racked up 18.0 ppg on 14-of-24 shooting (.583), averaged 9.0 rpg, 3.5 apg, 1.0 bpg and tallied one steal. He picked up his second double-double of the season and set a new career high in points (23) while matching another career best in rebounds (11).
This is Hill's second career Pac-12 Player of the Week honor and the 82nd all-time selection for Arizona. Hill's first Player of the Week selection came on December 5.
The Wildcats host archrival Arizona State to kick off Pac-12 play Saturday, Dec. 31 at 3:30 p.m. MT/2:30 p.m. PT.
