Stanford's Ogwumike Named Player of the Week
WALNUT CREEK, Calif.— STANFORD's Nnemkadi Ogwumike was named Bank of the West Pac-12 Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 19-25, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. For the week, Ogwumike averaged 25.0 points and 10.5 rebounds a game and shot 69.7 percent from the field.
Senior forward Nnemkadi Ogwumike (Cypress, Texas) put up the best performance of her career to date in fourth-ranked Stanford's 97-80 rout of sixth-ranked Tennessee last Tuesday. Ogwumike scored a career-high 42 points, just the seventh 40-point game in Stanford history and tied for the fourth-highest single-game scoring output in program history, while going 19-for-27 from the field and grabbing 17 rebounds. The 22nd all-time 40-point performance in Pac-12 history, it was Ogwumike's first 40-point game at Stanford. Stanford also registered a 90-48 win over CSU Bak-ersfield to end the week with Ogwumike posting eight points, four rebounds and four assists in just 13 minutes of play.
It is Ogwumike's sixth-career Player of the Week honor and Stanford's 80th all-time.
