Stanford's Ogwumike Player of the Week
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - STANFORD's Chiney Ogwumike was named Bank of the West Pac-12 Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 16-22, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. She averaged a double-double of 17.0 points and 11.5 rebounds while shooting 68.4 percent in the Cardinal's sweep of Washington State and Washington.
The sophomore forward from Cypress, Texas, notched her seventh and eighth double-doubles of the season. She opened the weekend with a 19-point, 12-rebound effort while going 7-of-8 from the field in Thursday's 75-41 win over Washington State. On Saturday, Ogwumike posted 15 points and 11 rebounds as the Cardinal defeated Washington 65-47.
This is Ogwumike's second-straight and second career Player of the Week honor. It is Stanford's 83rd all-time.
The fourth-ranked Cardinal host rival California on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. PT.
